Supported standing practise for your baby
Between 2 and 4.5 months, most babies are able to stand up with support and bear some weight on their legs. This is a great way to help your baby get the feeling of being on their feet and strengthen their leg muscles.
- Place your hands securely around your baby’s torso and hold them in a standing position on a flat, stable surface such as the floor.
- Be sure to hold them upright; their feet should be flat on the floor.
- Once they feel comfortable, they may want to bounce up and down.
- Let their bare feet touch different surfaces such as carpet, wood flooring, tile, and even grass to make it a sensory experience.
- You can make this a daily practise if your baby enjoys it.
